Banyan Pediatric Care Center based in St. Petersburg has expanded into Sarasota with its new extended care medical center.

SARASOTA, FL — Banyan Pediatric Care Centers, a provider of Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care services for children with special needs, is now open at 3251 17th Street, Ste. 200 in Sarasota.

Banyan provides skilled nursing for medically fragile and medically complex children ages birth to 21 in a childcare setting, according to a news release from the company. "This expansion to a second location ensures access to services that are not only critical to a child's development, but also provide support for families who often struggle with the unique and complex medical needs of their children," Jason Moxley, president, said. "Banyan centers allow parents and caregivers the freedom to pursue their careers and tackle day-to-day responsibilities knowing their children are well cared for by our great clinical staff."

Banyan's team of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, EMTs and caregivers work with each child's primary care physician to develop a consistent, multidisciplinary plan of care to ensure that every child receives the care they need while reaching his or her maximum potential, the company said.

On-site physical and occupational developmental therapies are provided, in addition to speech, gross motor, fine-motor sensory and behavioral therapies that are conducted in a nurturing, educationally based environment, Banyan said. Any child who has a medical condition that requires skilled nursing or monitoring services may be eligible for care through Banyan.
